Resolume Arena is a software for Mac and Windows that is used primarily in advertising, visuals and VJing. This program enables the user to design and produce high quality media content in real time over the internet. It can be used at any scale depending on its intended use, from small lighting desktops, to large arena events with thousands of supports in front of a thousand people. It is largely used for VJing, but also has the potential of being used to create video content. The Arena application was originally released as a software called Arena for Quartz Composer in 2006. That application was later rewritten in Java to become Resolume. The first version was released for Mac OS X, with Windows support added later on. At the time of this article being written, Resolume is available for Mac OS X 10.7 - 10.10, Windows 7/8/8.1 & Windows 10 64-bit. There are 3 different versions of Resolume available on the website: Resolume, Resolume Avenue and Resolume Arena Edition (AE). The Arena Edition includes Resolume Avenue and is available with a higher price. Each version is fully functional after the initial purchase, although they are limited by the maximum number of outputs (8). Resolume Arena (RE) is also available with an Educational license, which allows unlimited output nodes. Resolume can be downloaded from Resolume's official website. The full version is available for $99 USD or €79 EUR. The 64-bit version of Resolume also supports video inputs and direct screen capturing with no extra software needed. It is not possible however to capture any input device other than the mouse in this manner. Resolume is bundled with various plugins, including support for Quartz Composer experiment files. Version 7.2 was released in March 2016. This version includes support for AVFoundation on Mac OS X 10.10+ and H264 streaming on all platforms, which enables streaming to Apple devices, PTZ cameras and other applications that use the RTMP protocol. The Windows version of Resolume Arena 7.2 can use OpenCV to track incoming video, follow faces in videos and images, do simple optical flow estimation or even recognize hand gestures using an Xbox 360 Kinect sensor or any OpenCV supported camera device. A comprehensive list of all upcoming Resolume lectures can be found here . The Resolume community offers its members a forum to ask questions, get help or share tricks and tips with fellow Resolume users. Resolume is mainly used for playing visual content, though it can be used for creating visual content as well. Visuals created in Resolume are not limited to 2D or 3D content. Anything that can be rendered in a video player can also be embedded in the program. This includes Flash, Quicktime, WebM/VP8, WMV/VC1 and MPEG-4/H264 video as well as GIFs (including Animated GIFs). cfa1e77820
